An MLA and his close associate have been arrested in connection with the suicide of a doctor. The arrest has been made on the basis of the suicide note of the doctor, who claimed that the MLA and his associate harassed, intimidated and forced him to end his life.
The MLA in question is Aam Admi Party MLA from Delhi's Deoli, Prakash Jarwal. His associate Kapil Nagar has also been arrested. The arrest comes a day after the Delhi court issued a non-bailable warrant against the duo. On April 18, a medical doctor, Rajender Singh ended his life at his residence. A suicide note found at the place claimed that both the MLA and his associate were harassing him over his water supply business. Unable to bear it any longer, he was ending his life, the note said. However, for the past 28 days, the duo evaded arrest citing various reasons. Finally, the duo was arrested on Saturday night.
When contacted, the AAP has given the stock-in-trade reply by saying the law will take its course. He is the second AAP MLA to be arrested. An AAP corporator has also been arrested for his role in fomenting the East Delhi riots.
