After disappointing survey reports, TRS mulls support to Prof. Nageshwar
It's now almost official. The ruling TRS is all set to opt out of the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahaboobnagar Graduates Constituency MLC elections. Highly placed sources say that the TRS has decided to support Left parties candidate Prof K Nageshwar instead.
Sources say that repeated surveys commissioned by the TRS leadership have shown that the TRS might end up in the third or fourth position. The survey also revealed that the popularity of the party is falling by each passing day among the unemployed youth and the graduates. Even TRS-sponsored voter recruitment too was a dud. Hence the party has unofficially decided to focus only on Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda seat, where Palla Rajeshwar Reddy is the candidate.
Party internal sources also said that the TRS will extend its support to Prof. K Nageshwar, who is contesting as an independent backed by the Left parties. Sources also said that of late Nageshwar too has been repeatedly claiming that he would not mind even if KCR supports him. This is an indication that there is some sort of agreement between Prof Nageshwar and the ruling TRS.
In fact, rumours were abounding even from about three months that the TRS would not contest the MLC elections and would support Prof. Nageshwar to stop the BJP from winning. As of now, indications are that the BJP has done a massive recruitment drive and is working hard to retain the seat.
