Ashok Leyland eyes 316-acre land in AP Capital

ITC, a reputed brand which is already into multi-business model, shifted its Agri Business base from Hyderabad to AP. Now, automobile maker Ashok Leyland is following the same track. The company is planning to set up manufacturing plant in Mallavalli village, Krishna district. About 316 acres of land were sought from AP Government to invest Rs 1,000 crore near the AP Capital. This deal is expected to close very soon with both the parties very much willing to work together.

Ashok Leyland is the 2nd largest vehicle manufacturer in India with a turnover of $2.5 billion as per the financial year 2010-11. It was founded in the year 1948 and have close to 12,000 employees working at various manufacturing plants.

ITC has business interests in Hotels, Agri Business, Information Technology, Packaging and Paperboards among others. Recently, The firm forayed into the premium chocolate segment and the manufacturing plant was set up in Bengaluru. The assorted chocolates cost Rs 1,000 per box and they will sold through boutiques in the luxury hotels.
