Update: 2020-12-09 05:30 GMT
The Nepal Department of Survey surprised the world by announcing that the highest mountain above sea level on earth grew, even more, taller. The new height announcement came after a scaled measurement exercise.

Going by the scaled measurement, the dragon country China and Nepal have announced the revised height jointly. The height of Mount Everest increased by 86 centimeters or 0.86 meters.

Back in 1954,  India conducted a scaled and scientific measurement and announced the height of Mount Everest as  8,848.86 metres. Now the revised height stood at 8,848.86 meters.

It has been widely reported that to measure the revised height the surveyors went for scaled measurement and scientific research. The measurement exercise was conducted in six rounds.

The continental drift theory claims that the Himalayas gets taller by not less than an inch every year. However, the growing height of the Himalayas is not a threat to anyone.
