Center Working On Proposal To Do Away Toll Plazas In 2 Years

Since the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) led by Narendra Modi made it to the government at the Centre, the government has been battling for the use of technology across the fields in the country.

Now, the centre is in plans of doing away with the idea of payments at the toll plaza, which will be a piece of good news for the people who find it difficult to spend so much time on making payments at the plaza when there is a full rush.

Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari who also holds other ministries took part in the Assocham conference and spoke about the new technology that will replace the payment system in toll plazas.

Addressing the conference, the Minister said, work is being done to develop a GPS-technology based tolling system so that the motorists can enjoy their rides.

Adding further, Gadkari said, since the emergence of FASTags, the electronic toll collection system the traffic at the toll plazas has come down

He went on to say that, the amount collected at the Tolls on the National Highways is expected to reach ₹34,000 crore this year, which stood at ₹24,000 crore, the last year.
