Days ahead of the first phase of the much-awaited Local Body elections in Andhra Pradesh, the opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP) faced a super jolt the decision of a party leader.
According to the media reports, veteran TDP leader, former Minister Pithani Satyanarayana who hails from the West Godavari region is in plans to bid goodbye to the party. It is said that the former Minister is all set to shift his loyalties from the TDP to the ruling YSRCP. He will reportedly wear the YSRCP shawl, once he gets permission from the government.
These reports gained a lot of significance as the former Minister has been maintaining a distance from the party activities in the district and he is refusing to meet the party activists too.If the media reports appear to be true and the former Minister bids goodbye to the TDP, it will leave a heavy toll on the party. He holds a stronghold on the district.
Looking at his political career, Pithani Satyanarayana was a Congressman. He was with the Congress party in the past and even served as the Health Minister in the Cabinet of former Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
Later, he joined the TDP party before the 2014 Andhra Pradesh General elections and contested the elections on a TDP ticket, and won the elections. He served as Labour Minister in the TDP government.
