Ahead of election result, Kameela Nasser resigns from Kamal Hassan's MNM
Ahead of the election results of the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam party faced a big blow after the close family friend of the actor quit the party.
Kameela Nasser, wife of Nasser announced her decision to quit Makkal Needhi Maiam. Due to her personal reasons, Kameela has decided to quit the party. Kamal Haasan accepted her resignation.
She has joined Kamal Haasan's party after it was launched. She has contested from the Central Chennai constituency in the Parliamentary election 2019. DMK's Dayanidhi Maran and PMK's Sam Paul contested from the same constituency.
In the Lok Sabha elections, Kameela Nasser has managed to win 92,429 votes, which translates to 12 percent of the vote share. She stood in third place in the Lok Sabha polls.
In the letter, she has written to Kamal Haasan, Kameel thanked Makkal Meedhi Maiam chief for being his teacher and everyone who traveled with her in her political journey.
'I am quitting Makkal Needhi Maiam due to my personal reasons. In this time, I thank Makkal Meedhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan who was my teacher and taught me the political nuances and to everyone who travelled with me during this period,' she said in the letter.
Despite the controversy, MNM candidate Kameela Nasser polled 12% of the vote share and received 92,429 votes, coming third after Dayanidhi Maran and Sam Paul.
