Air Tickets booked with banned notes Non-refundable

Update: 2016-11-11 09:24 GMT
Government of India imposed a ban on old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations on November 8th, 2016. It, however, offered few exemptions for 72 hours taking the day-to-day needs of people into consideration. One of them is acceptance of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes for booking air tickets till November 11th.

Tax Evaders have took this as an opportunity to book high-cost air tickets first and then cancel them so that the Black Money would be converted into White in this form. Centre identified this loophole at the earliest and taken necessary measures.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) passed orders to all the Airlines asking them to follow the rule - 'Air Tickets bought with Rs 500 & Rs 1000 currency notes aren't refundable even if a cancellation request was placed'. Which if air tickets were bought with high denominations, They people could either travel to the destination or lose money but there is no chance of refund in any form.
