Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane created a World Record during the ongoing 1st Test Match against Sri Lanka at Galle. He is the first cricketer to take eight catches in a Test match. This is a new World record number of catches for a non-wicketkeeper.
Rahane has been in the slips mostly during the coarse of the game. He never missed any of the chances which came his way and also grabbed few stunners.
After bowling out Sri Lanka for 183 in 1st Innings, India took a huge lead by scoring 375 runs and put the hosts under immense pressure. But, one should say Day 3 completely belonged to Sri Lanka which fought back with Chandimal's 160-plus heroics to post a total of 367 in the 2nd Innings. India opened 2nd Innings with a tricky target of 176 runs to chase and concluded Day 3 with 23 runs on board at a loss of one wicket. Men-in-Blue has to score 153 runs more to take 1-0 lead in the 3 match Test Series. Dhawan and night-watchman Ishant Sharma are in the crease right now.
