The political circles in Telangana are keenly watching YS Sharmila's political moves. Especially, the ruling party is keeping an eye on those meeting with Sharmila. The TRS is trying to know who are in touch with Sharmila.
On Thursday, Sharmila met close confidants from Khammam district. Now, Khammam is very important for Sharmila as the YSRCP had won one MP seat and two MLAs seats from Khammam district in 2014. These leaders are now in the TRS, but are none too happy there. Secondly, the TRS is at its weakest in Khammam district. In 2018, the TRS performance was none too encouraging in Khammam.
In fact, Rangareddy and Khammam are the only two districts where the TRS tsunami did not have major impact in 2018 elections. Hence Sharmila's moves are raising alarm in the TRS circles. Now she is slated to visit Khammam on February 21.
Her moves assume significance as Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy shares close relation with YS family and has never hidden his admiration for the family. Even after joining the TRS, he never shied away from praising YSR and Jagan.
