Its known that former Tamilnadu Chief Minister Jayalalita was convicted under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Following the conviction, a bail application was filed before the Karnataka High Court and the court adjourned the matter to next week.
In her petitions seeking immediate bail and challenging her sentence, Jayalalitha has maintained that the charges of amassing wealth against her were false and that she had acquired property through legal means.
Appearing before the court, Jayalalithaa strongly argued and said that the case was "politically motivated" and "fabricated" at the instance of her rival DMK.
According to reports from Tamil media Jaya made some interesting comments in the court.She reportedly said that she was not having any family on her own and no need for her to amass wealth in illegal manner. She called Tamil people as her family and said that all her wealth will belongs to Tamil people.She reportedly agreed to use all his wealth for the sake of Tamil people.
Its worth to recall that a Special court Judge in Banglore convicted Jayalalithaa in the Rs 66.65 crore DA case and sentenced her to four years imprisonment along with Rs 100 crore fine and confiscation of all seized properties. Besides Jayalilithaa, three other accused were also sentenced to jail for four years, besides being slapped with a fine Rs10 crore each.
