Advocates hailing from Rayalaseema Region stressed the need for decentralization of power in Andhra Pradesh. They placed the demand of establishing High Court in Rayalaseema so that equal justice can be done to all the regions.
Advocates from Anantapur, Kadapa and Kurnool reached Secretariat in big numbers for appealing the State Government. Banners/Placards were displayed and slogans have been raised when the Chief Minister's convoy was passing by. 'Political Parties made it a habit to make promises when they were in Opposition and forget about the implementation after coming to power. As per the Gentlemen's Agreement of 1956, High Court must be set up in Rayalaseema. TDP followed the Hyderabad Model for Amaravati and neglected other regions. That is why we haven't consulted TDP for fulfillment of our demand. If Coastal Andhra Advocates demand High Court for their region, Then Capital has to be shifted to Rayalaseema. Won't leave the Secretariat until we meet CM Jaganmohan Reddy,' pledged the Rayalaseema-based Advocates.
High Court for Rayalaseema is a long-pending demand. Majority of the Andhrites feel its a very reasonable demand as Amaravati was already declared as the capital of the state. There is no point in making AP Capital into another Hyderabad without decentralization of power. Had if past rulers focussed on statewide development, Both Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema could have been developed on par with Hyderabad by now.
