Amaravathi to have airport in 5000 acres

Gannavaran airport (in Vijayayawada) will be developed into an international airport and the state government is in the process of expanding the existing 536 acres Airport by another 700 acres.

With the existence of Gannavaram airport which is hardly 66 kms from proposed AP capital Amaravati many  thought there is no chance for a new airport in Amaravati. But no…as per reports AP CM chandrababu Naidu is planning for a spanking new airport and it will be built in Mangalagiri, 20 km away from Amaravathi. The new airport will be built in 5,000 acres in Amaravati and government is chalking out the plans.

Chandrababu Naidu reportedly expressed that a new airport is necessary for future use of the capital. Apart from this two  third airport is likely to be constructed in Karnool in Rayalaseema region.The construction work of Amaravati is likely to begin after Dasara festival.
