Union Government on Friday unveiled the new list of 30 cities which will be developed as Smart Cities. Amaravati from Andhra Pradesh and Karimnagar from Telangana managed to be part of Smart City Mission in Round 3.
Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu informed that 45 cities have competed for 40 available Smart City slots but only 30 out of them got selected. He added, '20 Cities will contest for remaining 10 slots'.
Centre has released two lists of Smart Cities in the past. Every Smart City will receive an investment of Rs 500 from Centre over a period of 5 Years. As much as Rs 57,393 crore is going to be invested on Smart City Mission.
