Just alike Hyderabad and Secunderabad in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh will have twin cities such as Amaravati and Vijayawada. When AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his obsession for Twin Cities, Singapore delegation which developed the Master Plan suggested him to focus on the proposed new capital & neighbouring city for it.
While Tank Bund and Hussainsagar separate Hyderabad and Secunderabad, The distance between the Twin Cities in AP will be 12 kms. AP's Twin Cities will be linked by Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network and the Waterfront between the two cities will be given top priority during the first phase of Capital construction.
Towns close to Vijayawada such as Gannavaram, Gudivada, Nuzivid, Nandigama, Guntur, Sattenapalle and Tenali will be developed as regional centres to keep a check on the migration. AP will have Twin Cities within few years alike Telangana if everything goes as per the plan.
