Amaravati Farmers can hold meeting in Tirupati: High Court!

Update: 2021-12-15 12:11 GMT
The Amaravati farmers who have been protesting for close to one year from now had concluded their 45-day long Maha Padayatra the other day after reaching Alipiri. To get permission for the meeting planned by them earlier, the farmer leaders had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday.

The petition came up for the hearing on Wednesday. Hearing the petition, the High Court granted permission for the Amaravati farmer leaders to hold the meeting. However, the High Court asked the farmer leaders to follow the prescribed guidelines.

While granting permission for the meeting, the Andhra Pradesh High Court directed the farmer leaders to follow the Covid protocols while conducting the meeting. The meeting should be held between 2 PM to 6 PM while following the court orders on the Covid protocols, the court said.

During the arguments, the lawyers representing the government told the High Court that the meeting could trigger issues between the people of two regions. However, the Court said the meeting can be held by following the Covid protocols. The Amaravati leaders and the opposition parties have welcomed the Court orders.
