The southern state Kerala has once again reported the highest number of Covid cases in a single day, days after the Onam festival. Record number of cases were reported in the past 24 hours.
According to the officials, Kerala saw as many as 31,445 more people catching the virus in 24 hours, which is apparently the highest number in recent times.
To make it even worse, Kerala saw a rise in new cases by as much as 30 percent compared to the previous day.
Citing the example of Kerala, the Union Government had appealed to the citizens to be more careful as the festive season is approaching. September and October will have big festivals in the country.
Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that we haven't overcome the second wave of Covid and the festival season is coming. We should be more careful or else the situation would be horrible. We are seeing a massive jump in cases post the festivals, he said.
As the big festivals are ahead, we should take utmost care in following the Covid protocols without any fail. The Covid guard should not be let down, he said.
