A BJP Delegation from AP met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to thank him for offering Special Assistance Measure (SAM) to the state. It was then Modi commented there are plenty of opportunities for developing Andhra Pradesh and focus should be on how well it should be done.
Special Assistance Measure (SAM) include payment of over Rs 22,000 crore Revenue Deficit, Full Funding of Polavaram Project, Nominal funds for AP Capital and Backward Districts and Tax Concessions on par with Telangana. Although people of the state and political parties including Jana Sena weren't happy with the package, AP unit BJP Leaders were on a felicitation spree. The other day, They have honoured Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu and Nirmala Seetharaman. Today, The delegation made it look as if package announced was more than enough for AP when they met Modi.
Will Centre regret backtracking on Special Status if AP BJP Leaders behave in such as fashion? They should at least bring the plight of people to the notice of Central Leadership instead of pampering the Union Ministers.
