Telangana Government had issued GO sanctioning hike of Movie Ticket prices after the introduction of Goods & Services Tax. While Tickets of Single Screens have been increased to Rs 120 from Rs 70, Multiplexes were given permission to charge Rs 200 per ticket. Whereas, IMAX Tickets & Recliner Seats in Multiplexes will be charged Rs 300. Upon receiving criticism, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has withdrawn the Government Order permitting price hike.
Reportedly, AP Government is keen to increase the ticket prices now. The proposed ticket hike could be a burden for common man as Single Screen ticket would be costing Rs 118 & Multiplex ticket will be as much as Rs 200. Recliner Seats are going to cost Rs 300 each.
CM Chandrababu Naidu might be of the feeling that hike is must for the sake of government & film industry after the launch of GST. What about the convenience of the common man? How fair is it to charge min Rs 50 more on each ticket all of a sudden? Let's only hope the prices of single screens doesn't cross Rs 100!
