Update: 2022-05-05 13:09 GMT
Andhra Pradesh is seeing a rise in rape cases and sexual assaults against women in the state. In the recent past, many cases were reported. The recent Repalle rape case had made many heads turn. Unfortunately, a pregnant woman was reportedly raped raising many eyebrows.

Amid severe criticism about the Repalle incident, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Taneti Vanitha made some objectionable comments and faced the heat from various sections. One wonders what made the Home Minister pass such comments.

Instead of condemning the attacks and assuring strict action against the culprits, the Home Minister said that such incidents happen coincidentally. These attacks were not planned intentionally and given the drunk state of the accused, they have carried out the attack.

Reacting to the Repalle incident, the Home Minister said that, the attackers had no plans to rape the woman. After the woman confronted her, the attackers who were drunk at that time took her behind the bushes and raped her. She even said that the conditions of the accused should also be considered.

While the Home Minister is expected and supposed to condemn the attacks and assure the victims that the culprits will be punished, the Home Minister made controversial comments and her comments did not go well with many.

Not just that, the Home Minister even alleged that due to the wrong upbringing of mothers, such incidents happen. She made the comments in a way that she is not condemning the attacks and trying to blame the victims.
