Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are the strong contenders to grab the chance to strike a deal with US-based electric car-maker Tesla Motors for establishing a manufacturing unit 'Gigafactory'. If talks turn fruitful, Tesla Motors will set up its largest lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility in one of the two Telugu States.
Representatives of AP and Telangana Governments held discussions with the Tesla Motors to inform the facilities they could provide. They promised to grant necessary permissions in quick time, huge land parcel free of cost, electricity, port access and few other incentives.
On the other hand, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis is also trying to lure Tesla Motors by promising export of the electric cars to South and East Asian markets in a smooth manner.
It was during PM Modi's visit to Tesla Motors manufacturing unit, CEO Elon Musk shared that his company's largest battery manufacturing unit will be set up in India. He further added, Tesla Motors will be coming up with customized cars that suit Indian roads in the next two years.
