Serious Discussion on Special Status in RS

Once again, A serious discussion took place in Rajya Sabha regarding the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. MPs shared their views on Special Status in the upper house on Tuesday.

KVP: '14th Finance Commission never said Special Status shouldn't be accorded to States. Then, PM Manmohan Singh announced Special Status for AP in Parliament. Centre have the responsibility to fulfill the promise'.

CPI MP D Raja: 'Special Status was promised to AP only because Arun Jaitley and Venkaiah Naidu had demanded for it. Today, These two leaders have taken a U-Turn'.

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh: 'When PM Manmohan Singh promised Special Status for 5 years, Venkaiah Naidu demanded that it should be implemented for 10 Years. When NDA is continuing Aadhaar and GST which were launched by former PM Manmohan, Why didn't Special Status was accorded for AP?'.

Telangana TDP MP Rapolu Anand Bhaskar: 'Special Status should be accorded for AP. Protests have been held even now demanding the implementation of the promise. At the same time, Pranahita-Chevella should be declared as National Project'.

YCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy: '14th Finance Commission isn't against Special Status. It's a promise given by then PM. Revenue Generation is low in AP. Don't do injustice citing Finance Commission as a reason'.

Congress MP T Subbarami Reddy: 'Capital has gone to Telangana. AP is in dire state. Special Status is AP's right. Centre should explain why it has gone back on the promise'.

Congress MP Digvijay Singh: 'PM Modi, CM Chandrababu and Venkaiah Naidu stressed the need for Special Category Status during the public meeting in Tirupati. Why they haven't been offering it now? Arun Jaitley is misleading people when it comes to Special Status'.

TRS MP K Kesava Rao: 'States need Special Status and Special Assistance'.

Congress MP Ghulam Nabi Azad: 'Centre should offer a helping hand to AP which is facing crisis'.

SP MP Naresh Agarwal: 'We support the demand of Special Status for AP. Andhra need Special Status'.
