Telangana agitation was all against the settlers. But, today, the politics in the state are revolving around settlers. Every party is wooing the settlers. Interestingly, the settlers are very important in Khamman, Rangareddy and Hyderabad districts and they play a key role in deciding who forms the next government.
In fact, settlers played a key role in 2014 elections also. They were upset with the TRS and the Congress. So, they voted for the TDP, But later, they sided with the TRS in the GHMC elections. Ever since, they are with the TRS. With electosn just a few months away, the settlers are in the spotlight once again. TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy has announced that the Congress will give adequate number of seats to the settlers. Rahul Gandhi too is trying to woo the settlers. He has addressed a public meeting in a settler dominated outskirts area on Tuesday.
As for KCR, he has said that anyone living in Telangana is a Telanganite. He too is trying to get the support of the settlers. But, how will the settlers react? Will they back the TRS, which has opposed special status to AP during the No Confidence Motion in Parliament? How will they react to TRS game plan to keep the industries in Telangana only and prevent their moving away to AP? The Andhra voters are going to become very crucial in the days to come. Some even predict that the settlers might go with the YSRCP in Hyderabad city.
