Angry students manhandled former Minister and head of Narayana group of educational institutes P Narayana over the lack of facilities and violation of rules in his schools and colleges. The incident occurred late on Tuesday night at Anantapur.  On knowing that Narayana has come to Anantapur to review the functioning  of his school, a large number of students, led by the SFI, AISF and the YSRCP students wing, staged a dharna in front of the meeting venue. They alleged that despite collecting Rs 1 lakh as fee, the Narayana institutions were not providing even basic amenities.

Narayana staff suddenly came out and attacked the students, due to which the students went out of control and some held Narayana by his collar. A visibly shaken Narayana ran towards his car and tried to flee. The students then attacked his car and damaged it. Later, the staff somehow helped him to flee from the place. The students demanded that criminal cases be registered against Narayana and his staff for attacking them.

The Narayana group is known to collect huge amounts towards the fee and is also known to put extreme pressure on the students to outperform themselves. There have been a spate of student suicides in these institutions over the years.
