Addressing the house on the dam safety bill, the Union minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat spoke about the importance of the safety offered by the dams. In his speech, the Union Minister held the Andhra Pradesh government responsible for the Annamayya project reservoir breach.
However, the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh was not happy with the comments and hit back at the Union Minister on this issue. AP Water Resources Minister Anil Kumar Yadav gave a sharp reaction to the Minister's comments and termed his statement as baseless.
Speaking to the media, Anil Kumar Yadav said that there is no truth in the Union Minister's claims and the reservoir breach took place as the construction attracted more water level than its capacity. As the water level increased at once resulting in a deluge, he said.
The Minister also found fault with the Union Minister for making such claims in the House without taking any information from the officials or the Andhra Pradesh government. How can he make such comments without proper information, Anil Kumar asked.
The state cabinet Minister even expressed a doubt of CM Ramesh and MP Y S Chowdary who shifted sides to BJP from TDP for giving misinformation on the reservoir to the Union Minister. He blamed the two members for the transfer of false information.
The war of words between the Centre and the YSRCP started with the Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat blaming the AP govt over the destruction caused by the breach of the reservoir. He asked who will take responsibility for the massive losses due to the deluge?
