Anna Hazare exposes Rs 25,000 crore Scam

Social Activist Anna Hazare filed about three Public Interest Litigations (PILs) in the Bombay High Court seeking CBI Probe into the irregularities of Sugar Cooperative Factories in Maharashtra. While two of them were civil PILs, One of them is a criminal PIL.

Anna Hazare alleged Rs 25,000 crore scam took place in connection with the Sugar Cooperative Factories. He commented that Maharashtra has gone back by 50 years because of this massive corruption.

The Activist seeks an inquiry by SIT to probe the role of NCP President Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar who is the former Irrigation Minister of Maharashtra. He also sought the court to take possession of all the properties owned by the accused as per prime facie evidence.

In the PILs, Its been mentioned that Sugar Cooperative Factories were projected as debt-ridden and then they were sold at a throwaway price. This fraud costed the Government to the tune of Rs 25,000 crore.
