Going into detail, toxic gas was leaked from the Seed Intimate Apparel unit on Friday. The authorities suspect that the toxic gas leaked at the Brandix Special Economic Zone (SEZ) could be Ammonia. As a result, more than 170 employees fell seriously ill after inhaling the toxic gas.
The unfortunate incident happened when the employees were working at the place. As the employees were gearing up to finish their work and leave for their house, the gas got leaked and within no time, the gas spread all over the place. As the toxic gas made taking breath tough, the employees rushed out of the facility.
Reports say that the toxic gas resulted in a few employees falling ill and many people losing their conciseness. The management swung into action and called for help. Ambulances were rushed to the spot and the victims were taken to the nearby hospital facility for treatment. A few people fainted reportedly.
It is also said that a few pregnant women were also present when the disaster happened. Despite inhaling the toxic gas, the women are said to be ok as the medical help arrived at the right time. The concerned authorities informed the status of the health condition of the victims to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The victims were given first aid and later they were shifted to the hospital. Victims who inhaled the toxic gas were shifted to the private and state-run hospitals for treatment. The state government directed the concerned authorities to look into the matter and probe the matter.
