The series of attacks on Hindu attacks in Andhra Pradesh has projected the state in a bad light. The attacks kickstarted a political storm in the state, with the ruling and opposition parties blaming each other.

Following this, the Andhra Pradesh Police department has swung into action and started digging deeper into the attacks. The cops have also found out that false news was also being spread about the attacks.

The cops, who are investigating the much-talked-about idol vandalism of Subrahmanyeshwara Swamy in Vigneshwara temple in Rajamahendravaram have got a major breakthrough in the case.

Ashok Kumar, Deputy Inspector General of Police(DIG) of Vijayawada wing of SIT, addressed the media to reveal more details on the idol vandalism in the temple.

He said that the temple priest is behind the idol vandalism and said, the Priest has been arrested by the cops accordingly.

'Eight teams have joined hands with the SIT to investigate the case. We have investigated the case from several aspects. Knowing that the Priest has some financial issues, some people pursued him to vandalise the idol. The miscreants gave Rs 30,000 to the priest and directed him to attack the idol. Temple priest Marala Venkata Muralikrishna and three others were arrested,' the DIG said.

Adding further, he said the Andhra Pradesh government has constituted a special team in the State Police department to investigate the attacks on Hindu temples. More details on other tracks will also be announced soon.
