A repeat of December 2009 crisis is what we could witness in Seemandhra post the recent announcement of Telangana state by the Congress high commandas the politicians have succumbed to the pressure from the people whom they represent.
About four ministers (Ports and Infrastructure minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Minor Irrigation minister TG Venkatesh, Law minister E Pratap Reddy and Cooperation minister Kasu Krishna Reddy) submitted their resignations to chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. While the 26 Congress Legislators include 19 MLAs and 7 MLCs, the 17 TDP Legislators include 15 MLAs and 2 MLCs. It is learnt that Union Ministers and MPs from Seemandhra will be submitting their resignations on Friday.
In 2009, Similar mass resignations has forced the Centre to backtrack on the decision it has taken on division of state. After 4 years, Seemandhra leaders have been playing the same card to reverse the decision of Telangana statehood.
On the other hand, Centre made it clear that Telangana issue is settled and they wouldn't backtrack this time. Instead, High Command is confident of persuading the agitating leaders in Seemandhra region.
