AP Government faces a bit of embarrassment with advertisement on Panchayat elections!
The Andhra Pradesh government led Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, which has fought to see that the Panchayat elections are postponed faced a rude shock with the Supreme Court's orders. The Apex Court gave its nod for the polls.
Following this, the state government has focused on winning the Gram Panchayats unanimously. To win the panchayats, the government has announced incentives and the incentive amount was also increased.
According to the revised incentive amounts, the Panchayats with a population of less than 2,000 where the polls are unanimous will be granted a fund of Rs 5 lakhs. The Panchayats with a population of between 2,000-5,000 will get grants of Rs 10 lakhs
On the other hand, the Panchayats with a population of below 10,000 and above 10,000 will get grants of Rs 15 lakhs and 20 lakhs respectively. The government has issued a G.O on this.
However, the Andhra Pradesh government faced a bot embarrassment in the advertisement given for the Panchayats to win the polls unanimously. The Press release is going round on social media.
In the advertisement that appeared in Sakshi Newspaper, they have used the picture of the Telangana Village Panchayat building instead of the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat complex.
The mistake of the government gave a chance for the opposition parties to target the government. The opposition TDP has slammed the mistake.
TDP Rajahmundry Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary took to microblogging site Twitter and made fun of the government for failing to use the correct complex.
'The advertisement in a way encourages to take part in an official auction. No one knows when the grants will be granted. The government is giving ads by spending crores of rupees. At least use the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat building instead of the Telangana Panchayat building,' Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary's Tweet loosely translates.
