The Andhra Pradesh government, which earlier decided to set up a medical college in every Parliamentary constituency issued orders to sanction four medical colleges.
Paderu in Visakhapatnam, Pulivendula in Kadapa, Piduguralla in Kadapa, and Machilipatnam in Krishna district were sanctioned medical colleges by the state government.
Rs 550 crores was granted for the Machilipatnam Medical College, while the other three colleges were granted funds of Rs 500 crore each.
The government headed by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to set up medical colleges so that the medical students need not go to other states for education.
Talking about the sanctioning of new colleges, Andhra Pradesh Non Gazetted Officers (APNGOs) thanked Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy citing that unemployed locals will get employment with this.
