Update: 2020-03-16 09:04 GMT
Following the AP Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar opting to postpone the local body elections in the state in the wake of the deadly Coronavirus spread, the AP government has moved the Supreme Court in this regard.

The government has filed a petition at the apex court requesting the court to grant orders to go ahead with the elections rather than postponing them. In the petition, the government said that Ramesh Kumar's actions are anti-Constitutional and the orders to postpone the elections should be canceled.

It is believed that the apex court will hear the pill on Tuesday. The registrar at the Supreme Court has been directed the court to include the government's petition in which the court hears tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a Lunch motion petition filed by the YSRCP government has been accepted by the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in which the government asked the Court to grant permission to hold the elections as per the earlier schedules.

AP government found fault with the Election Commissioner postponing the elections and also stated that the 14th Finance Commission will withdraw Rs 5,000 crores of funds if the polls won't get commenced by 31 st of this month.
