AP Government Provides Cabinet Status to Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi

The Andhra Government has issued a fresh order providing cabinet post to Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi, wife of former Chief Minister and TDP founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao as the chairperson of Telugu Akademi.

According to the reports, the Higher Education Ministry will look after the facilities, salaries and other allowances provided to her. She will continue in this post for two years.

Special secretary-general of AP, JSV Prasad has issued the orders providing her Cabinet status. Along with her, Zulfi, who was appointed as AP special envoy to the Gulf countries, was also given Cabinet status.

Lakshmi Parvathi is one of the key persons in the YSR Congress party and played a vital role in party activities from the beginning. She holds a degree in Telugu Literature, from the University of Hyderabad.

She is also a writer. She penned down, three books, 'A Biography of NT Rama Rao' and 'Abhigna' and 'Vaidedhi' novels. After marrying NT Rama Rao, she became active in politics. After the demise of NTR, she floated a new party NTR Telugu Desam Party and contested from Patapatnam constituency in Srikakulam district in the 1996 by-elections.

Later she joined the Congress party and worked for the party. She joined the YSR Congress party, started by the AP CM Jagan after the demise of his father, YS Rajasekhar Reddy and took an active part in the party events
