The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy which took a serious note of the Antravedi Temple Chariot Fire Incident transferred the case to CBI for a detailed and comprehensive probe into the case.
Following this, the Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) office has written to the Home Department to request the transfer of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI).
After the said incident, the state government has appointed Endowments Additional Commissioner Ramachandra Mohan as the inquiry officer and Antarvedi temple Executive Officer N.S. Chakradhar Rao and two staffers were suspended from their duties.
The shocking incident took place during the early hours of Sunday where the incident wooden chariot of the Holy Narasimha Swami Shrine caught fire and the chariot was burnt completely.
A few months back, a similar incident surfaced in the SPS Nellore district, where a temple chariot was burnt completely. Upon investigation, the police have found out that a mentally ill person did this.
