AP Govt issues orders closure of educational institutions that report Covid cases!

Amid the tense situation of educational institutions reporting Coronavirus infections, Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh chaired a key meeting with the key officials via teleconference on Saturday.

The Minister issued directives to the concerned officials to close the institutions which reported Covid infections. The officials were also directed to keep a close vigil on the institutions.

"Monitor the developments in schools and colleges. Increase the Covid-19 tests count in the state. Take strict action against owners of the institutions if they show any negligence in this record," the Minister told the authorities as per the reports.

Citing the examples of Rajahmundry Private College and Andhra University, the Minister directed the officials to be alert and take the required measures to curb the infections.

Earlier, 168 Covid infections were reported at a private college in Rajahmundry. On Saturday Andhra University reported 59 infections. The blocks in which the students are living have been transformed into containment zones and quarantine facilities.

In the last 24 hours, Andhra Pradesh added 947 new Covid cases, and the total infections have mounted to 8,97,810. The virus claimed 7203 lives in the state so far.
