The infamous cheap liquor brands issue had placed the Andhra Pradesh government and opposition Telugu Desam Party against each other. After the Spurious liquor deaths in Jangareddygudem had popped up, the opposition party went all guns open against the government.

Not leaving the opposition party, the ruling outfit said that it was the previous government that had permitted the cheap liquor brands which are still being sold in the state. Recently, CM Jagan told the Assembly house that after 2019 no new brands were allowed and the previous companies are running the business.

With the opposition leaders aggressively attacking the government on the liquor brands issue, it has been widely reported that the state government is gearing up to slap the opposition leaders with a defamation case for making false allegations against the government.

The new news came at a time when the opposition leaders are doing protests against the liquor issue. The other day, the TDP leaders held a protest against the liquor issue.

The fresh development might pour water on the opposition party leaders' attack against the government on the alleged illicit liquor that is sold in the state. It is interesting to see how the grand old party will tackle the notice.
