The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami and Justice C Praveen Kumar has quashed the judgment of the Single Bench imposing a stay on the election and issued a green signal for the State Election Commission to continue the election process.

The tribunal, which heard the arguments of the state government and the SEC, delivered its verdict today. The Bench on Wednesday dismissed the implead petitions filed by Government Employees Federation and YSR Teachers Federation.

We are aware that the AP Election Commission has issued a notification for the local body elections in the state. The state government headed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as approached the single bench of the high court challenging the notification and got the verdict in their favour.

However, the SEC filed a petition in the Division Bench of the High Court challenging the judgment passed by the Single Bench and requested the court to allow the conduct of the election. It remains to be seen whether the government will appeal the verdict to the Supreme Court or not.
