AP Local Body Polls: Government Faces A Rude Shock!

Update: 2021-01-22 10:00 GMT
The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy which moved the Supreme Court challenging the orders of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on the Panchayat elections faced a rude shock reportedly.

As per the media reports, the Supreme Court couldn't hear the petition on Friday on a priority basis, as the Counsel representing the state government filed the petition after the court timings.

It is also said that the Supreme Court registry said there are many errors in the application which is why the petition didn't come for the hearing before the top court.

Going by the information, the AP government's petition on the Local Body elections was registered for the hearing and the plea will be heard on Monday by the court.

With the AP government facing a shock with the Supreme Court not hearing the plea, the SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is said to have to focus on issuing the election notification on Saturday and go ahead with the polls.

If we have to take anything from the media reports, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar will call for the press briefing tomorrow over the local body elections and reveal more details on the polls.

Now it is interesting to know, how the state government will tackle the situations. If SEC issued an election notification, how the government will face the consequences. We have to wait and see.

Hearing a writ petition filed by the State Election Commission, the division bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday gave its nod for the elections and asked the government and SEC to coordinate.
