The Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha Polls 2020 is being conducted at AP State Legislative Assembly at Velagapudi. The polling got commenced at 9.am and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy castes his vote for the Biennial election.
For the four Rajya Sabha seats, four leaders are in the fray from the ruling YSRCP, while opposition TDP has only one leader.
Deputy Chief Minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, A. Ayodhya Rami Reddy, and Reliance Industries senior group president Parimal Nathwani are in the fray from the YSRCP, on the other hand, TDP announced Varla Rammaih as its candidate.
The polls will last till evening 4 and the election results will be announced by the Returning officer at 6 in the evening. Leaders have to cast their vote through an open ballot system
Going by the strength in the house, YSRCP will win all the four seats comfortably as the candidates need a minimum of 36 votes to emerge victoriously in the Rajya Sabha Polls.
The opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP) which enjoys a strength of only 23 MLAs in the house might not be able to win even a single seat.
