Amid criticism from the opposition parties, the BJP-led Union government had implemented the value-added tax goods and services tax (GST) on many goods and services in the domestic arena. Despite the consumers facing the heat of the system, the state governments and Union government are seeing good numbers in collections every year.
The recent GST Collections show that Andhra Pradesh had fared well among the southern states in terms of the collections. Despite all the southern states doing well, Andhra Pradesh is in the better place compared to others as the state recorded good numbers in the GST sales in Year-over-year (YOY).
Showing tremendous success, Andhra Pradesh saw a big collection of over Rs, 4,000 crores in April. While collecting more than Rs 4,000 crores itself is a big thing, the state had recorded a growth of around 22 percent in the collections compared to the previous year. Last year, AP saw thundering collections with more than 3,300 crores.
This year has been working well for Andhra Pradesh in GST sales. While the state recorded Rs 3,000 crores in February this year, in two months, the collection went up by more than Rs 1,000. This feat has helped Andhra Pradesh to share the list with a few other states that have collected over Rs 4,000 crores in the GST sales.
While the other Southern states and Odisha saw good numbers in the GST revenue, no state had managed to see the growth of more than 20 percent like Andhra Pradesh did.
