Apex Court Pulls over Centre On Lockdown

Update: 2020-08-26 13:22 GMT
The Supreme Court which heard the loan moratorium case pulled over the Central government and made some sensational comments on the nationwide lockdown imposed by the government.

The Constitutional bench of the Apex court comprising of Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice MR Shah asked, what's the Centre's stand on the banks charging extra amount as interest for the moratorium period.

The bench asked the Centre to clear its stand on loan moratorium and said that the Centre is hiding behind the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) in this regard.

The apex court said the nationwide lockdown imposed by the center resulted in the Indian economy going through tough times and facing problems.

The Centre told the Supreme Court that waiving the interests on loans might affect the businesses and banks which did not go well with the court and the apex court made some sharp comments.

The bench reacted sharply to these comments and said during these tough times, the Centre should not think about the business and the sufferings of the people should also be considered.
