Applicants Might Bypass H-1B Cap With O Visas: Senator

Update: 2017-07-20 16:40 GMT
An American senator Chuck Grassley alleged on Thursday that potential H-1B applicants are being advised to apply for an O visa  to bypass legal restrictions on H-1B Visas.  It is known that H-1B Visas intended for highly-skilled foreign workers, but there is a cap on their issuance.  Whereas O Visas doesn't have any cap.

O Visa programme is intended for the workers who have extraordinary abilities or a demonstrated record of extraordinary achievements in the fields of science, arts, education, business, athletics etc.

The senator wrote a letter to Homeland Secretary John Kelly that "Despite the rarity of such exceptional qualifications, number of O visas has tripled in the last decade.  The number of O visas were 30,000 in 2006 to 100,000 in 2016".  His letter was released to the media today.  He requested the government to look into the issue to prevent the alleged Visa fraud.
