Cash-for-Vote not a Crime: CBN's Lawyer

Update: 2016-11-18 14:17 GMT
YCP Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy moved ACB Court seeking inclusion of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu's name in the Cash-for-Note charge sheet. TDP Supremo challenged it in High Court and obtained a stay order. Subsequently, YSRC Legislator moved Supreme Court against the stay and Apex Court directed High Court to resolve the issue within four weeks.

Chandrababu's Counsel Siddhartha Luthra on Friday brought a new version to save his client. He went on to say, 'Neither buying of votes nor accepting money for casting vote is a crime at all. Hence, Cash-for-Vote case doesn't come under Anti-Corruption Act'.

Mr.Siddhratha Luthra maintained Anti-Corruption Act is applicable only if public representative indulge in corruption using their power. He argued that the petition filed by Alla Ramakrishna Reddy isn't valid. 'YCP MLA filed petition as per Section 210. ACB Court ordered for probe as per Section 156(3). ACB completed the probe and filed charge sheet even before these orders were passed. How can two FIRs be filed in a single case? How could Alla who isn't involved in the case file a petition?'.

High Court posted the next hearing of Cash-for-Vote case to November 22nd, 2016.
