Oxygen Crisis: Around 74 patients lose their lives in a span of four days!
Oxygen shortage in hospitals and medical facilities is a burning situation in the country. Showing how deep the crisis is, as many as 74 patients lost their lives due to disruption in oxygen supply. Whatâs even more horrific is, all the deaths were reported at one hospital only.
Going into detail, Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has been reporting deaths due to an alleged shortage in medical oxygen, which in turn resulted in 76 patients breathing their last in just four days.
The GMGH, the largest facility dedicated to Covid in Goa reported as many as 26 deaths on Tuesday and the Covid deaths followed by 20, 15, and 13 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning respectively.
Following daily deaths, Goa Forward Party has come down on the government severely and filed a Police complaint against Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, and senior officials on Friday.
Media reports claimed that in the complaint the political party alleged the Goa government for showing negligence in rendering their services over the alleged disruption in medical oxygen to the hospital.
As another development, the Goa wing of Congress is gearing up to file a complaint against the government. The Congress party accused the Chief Minister and Health Minister of Goa over the issue.
The Goa High Court, which heard a petition on the pandemic situation found fault with the state government and said Covid patients could not be left to die with "logistics" issues.
