Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is mulling to nominate former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan to the Rajya Sabha. He is the frontrunner to bag one of the three Rajya Sabha seats in Delhi which will fall vacant in January next year.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal forwarded a letter to Raghuram Rajan with the proposal to send him to the Upper House. The Ex-RBI Governor hasn't responded to the letter so far.
Reportedly, AAP Leadership decided to nominate people other than Politicians for Rajya Sabha. Who are the two other lucky ones?
Raghuram Rajan didn't approve Demonetisation when he was the RBI Governor & even cautioned Centre about consequences if implemented it in an improper manner. In his book 'I Do What I Do', Rajan wrote short term economic costs of Note Ban would outweigh the long term benefits. He is currently working as Processor at the University of Chicago.
