A 21-year-old girl who hails from a middle-class family stole the limelight after the media outlets, from the local media to the national media carried out stories on her for her rarest of the rare achievement.

Going into detail, Arya Rajendran who is 21 years of age is pursuing her B.Sc Mathematics in All Saints College is all set to serve as the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.

Arya Rajendran who emerged victoriously and won as a councilor in the recently held local body elections became the youngest Mayor in the country. She has broken the record which was earlier held by Abilasha Gupta Nandi, who became Mayor at the age of 23. She served as Allahabad Mayor.

Despite the senior leaders hoping to win the post, the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) has picked Arya Rajendran for the Mayor post, thus making her the youngest person to serve as the Mayor.

The ruling LDF has categorically fielded many young faces, including Arya Rajendran in the local body elections and won a major share of seats in the Corporation council. The ruling LDF has won 52 seats and the BJP has bagged 35 seats.
