Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien made sensational comments during a debate on Juvenile Law in Rajya Sabha.
Mr. O'Brien declared he would have shot the rapist instead of trusting the laws of the country had if he was the father of the December 16th Delhi Gangrape Victim. 'What would I do had if the victim was my daughter? Trust the laws of the country or Hire the best lawyers or Pull out a gun and shoot him? I would have pulled out the gun and shot him,' he told.
Parents of Jyoti Singh, gang-rape victim, were in the visitor's gallery watching the house proceedings when he made these remarks.
The proposed New Law treats Offenders (above the age of 16) involved in rapes and murders as adults to serve them maximum punishment. The TMC MP supported the Bill hoping that it would be very useful.
