Congress kept receiving positive indications ever since Rahul Gandhi took over the reins of the 130-Year-Old Party. It came close to defeating BJP in Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat and that's something even Exit Polls didn't hint. The biggest relief came in the form of CBI Special Court acquitting all the accused in 2G Spectrum Scam which happened in the UPA regime. Here is another good news for the National Party...
Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao granted permission to CBI for prosecuting former Congress CM Ashok Chavan in the Adarsh Housing Society Scam. Whereas, The Bombay High Court rejected the sanction granted by the Governor citing the Investigative Agency has failed to present fresh evidence against Ashok Chavan.
Actually, CBI claimed to be having fresh evidence against Ashok Chavan while seeking the sanction. However, The high court opined evidence presented by CBI couldn't be treated as credible one.
Ashok Chavan who is currently Congress President of Maharashtra served as CM from December 2008 to November 2010, until the Adarsh Scam got exposed. CBI alleged Chavan offered undue favours and received two flats in return for his relatives. He was also charged for sanctioning 40 percent of flats to civilians though the Housing Society is meant for Defence Personnel.
Overall, The recent developments have been a positive sign for the Congress Party and Rahul Gandhi can't ask for anything better. What's gonna happen next? Will Gandhis get a relief in the Deccan Herald case too? Wait & See!
