Senior VHP leader passes away

Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal is no more. The  89-year-old patron of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad passed away on Tuesday due to prolonged illness. Few days back he was admitted to a private hospital in Gurgaon following complaints of breathlessness.

He was admitted to Medanta on October 20 and was flown in to the National Capital in an air ambulance. Singhal was put on a ventilator on November 14 evening.The death of the 89-year-old was announced by his deputy Praveen Togadia.

Prime Minister Modi also  expressed grief and said that Singhalji's death was a personal loss. "He was an institution in himself, whose life was centred around serving the nation," the PM tweeted.

"Ashok Singhal ji was the force behind several noble deeds & social work, which benefitted the poor. He is an inspiration for generations.I was always fortunate to receive Ashok ji's blessings & guidance. My condolences to his family & countless supporters." Modi added

Singhal was at the forefront of the Ram Temple movement and he  was a key organiser of the first VHP Dharma Sansad.
