Dates locked for Assembly Polls in 5 States

Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi on Friday announced the polling dates of Assembly elections in five states (Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry).

Polling Dates:

Assam - Two Phase Polling (April 4th & 11th)

West Bengal - Six Phase Polling (1st Phase: April 4th & 11th, 2nd Phase: 17th, 3rd Phase: 21st, 4th Phase: 25th and 5th Phase: 30th, 6th Phase: May 5th).

Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry - May 16th

Counting of Votes polled in all the five stated will happen on May 19th, 2016.

Altogether, 829 Assembly constituencies would take part in the polling in these five states. Model Code of Conduct in all the five states come into effect now. Central Forces will be deployed in these states to ensure smooth & fair polling.
